1869 Cincinnati Red Stockings Fall to Friends the Cincinnati Buckeyes on Opening Day

The 1869 Cincinnati Red Stockings opened their vintage base ball season with a hard-fought contest against their friends the Cincinnati Buckeyes. Though the Red Stockings played with heart and historic flair, the Buckeyes emerged victorious in a spirited affair, 15-26, that kept the crowd engaged from start to finish.
Despite the loss, the Red Stockings exhibited the same sportsmanship and determination that defines our proud legacy. It was a true celebration of 19th-century base ball, and the Buckeyes deserve commendation for their fine play.
To our loyal fans—thank you for coming out and making Opening Day a memorable one. Your cheers, period attire, and enthusiasm remind us why this game remains timeless.
Thank you to Boston and Hovercraft for coming out to play with us.
Lastly, thank you to the amazing musicians of Breakfast Jam for providing festive period type music for our ballists and fans.
The Cincinnati Vintage Base Ball Club will return to action on Saturday, April 26th, to face the Volunteers of the Ohio Ninth following their appearance in the Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Opening Day Parade. We look forward to seeing you there as we continue this grand tradition!
